Philosophy and Expectations

At Fantasy Dance School, we believe in nurturing the artistic and personal growth of each dancer. Our Elite Competitive Program sets high standards of excellence, encouraging dancers to push their boundaries and achieve their fullest potential. We emphasize dedication, discipline, resilience, and respect, not only for oneself but for fellow team members, instructors, and the art of dance itself.

We view every dancer as a unique artist and athlete, and we are committed to fostering an environment where passion meets purpose. We approach each dancer individually, creating a personalized growth plan that supports their strengths, addresses areas for improvement, and aligns with their goals. Whether a dancer is working toward advanced technique, improved stage presence, or leadership within the team, they will receive thoughtful guidance and encouragement every step of the way.

Dancers are expected to take ownership of their progress, maintain a positive and respectful attitude, and contribute to a team culture that values unity, encouragement, and accountability. Through consistent training, performance opportunities, and constructive feedback, our dancers develop not only strong technique but also confidence, leadership skills, and a lifelong appreciation for hard work and creative expression.

At Fantasy Dance School, we don’t just train dancers, we shape well-rounded individuals who carry the values of excellence and integrity into every area of their lives.

Expectations

Placements by Levels

Elite Competition Team Levels | 2026–2027 Season

For the 2026–2027 school year, Elite team placements and levels will be determined based on audition results and overall enrollment. Final groupings will depend on the number of dancers auditioning and their technical level, performance quality, and experience.

We are planning to offer four levels of Elite training in each style: Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop. This structure is designed to provide appropriate progression, individualized development, and strong competitive groupings across all styles.

Level placement is not age-based alone. Dancers will be placed according to skill level, training background, and instructor evaluation to ensure the best educational and performance experience.

Please note:

  • Some dancers may be placed in combined or transitional groups when appropriate.

  • Each level requires a minimum number of dancers to form an official FDS Elite Competition Team, ensuring a cohesive, focused, and dynamic team environment.

Final level offerings and placements will be confirmed following auditions.

Competition Team Structure

Training Structure | 2026–2027 Season

During the 2025–2026 season, we piloted a new competition team structure and identified opportunities to better support dancer energy, scheduling balance, and training effectiveness.

For the 2026–2027 school year, we are introducing a revised training structure focused on dancer wellness, improved focus, and elevated performance quality.

Updated Training Approach

All competition team classes will begin with a structured warm-up, followed by focused choreography work.

To support this structure:

  • All Elite members are required to enroll in additional technique classes on Tuesdays and/or Fridays.

  • Dancers must take one technique class per style in which they compete (Jazz, Contemporary, and/or Hip-Hop).

These classes support technical growth, strength, flexibility, and consistency across styles. Scheduling adjustments will be made for dancers participating in both Elite and the FDT to ensure balanced training.

Competition Team Rehearsals

Competition team rehearsals will continue on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, with a primary focus on choreography, cleaning, and competition readiness.

This structure is designed to reduce fatigue, improve focus, and elevate performance quality for a successful 2026–2027 season.

Summer Intensive | Elite & FDTroupe Preparation

Kick off the season with two weeks of elite summer training designed for committed dancers preparing for the upcoming year. Our Summer Intensive focuses on strengthening technique, building endurance, and refining performance skills to set dancers up for success.

This intensive is highly recommended for dancers auditioning for the FDS Elite Competition Team or the Fantasy Dance Troupe, as it reflects the level of commitment and preparation expected for the season.

Attendance Requirement

  • Attendance is required for both weeks of the Summer Intensive.

  • Dancers who are unable to attend one of the two weeks will be required to enroll in additional technique classes beyond the required minimum to ensure proper technical development and readiness.

Each week includes expert instruction, challenging combinations, and a focused, supportive training environment that encourages growth and excellence. Let’s train with purpose, build strong foundations, and start the season ready to shine.
