At Fantasy Dance School (FDS), we believe that every dancer — whether just starting or training at an advanced level — deserves a foundation rooted in both artistry and strong technique. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support the dancer’s journey at every stage, nurturing confidence, personal expression, discipline, and technical growth.

Our Curriculum Philosophy

 

We offer a concept-based, developmentally appropriate training model that focuses on:

  • Building classical technique with safe and progressive methodology

  • Encouraging creativity and emotional expression in every class

  • Developing musicality, coordination, alignment, and stage presence

  • Cultivating discipline, respect, teamwork, and a love of dance

 

Our goal is to guide each dancer to discover their unique voice, while gaining the strength, precision, and artistry needed to shine both in the studio and onstage.

Dance Styles

FDS Dance Curriculum & What We Offer

📝 Program Highlights:

 

  • FDS Recreational Program: Designed for flexibility—students can take as few or as many classes as they like.

  • Elite Team: Competitive program requiring higher commitment, by audition only.

  • FDT (Fantasy Dance Troupe): Non-profit company with additional performance and leadership opportunities, requiring higher commitment, by audition only.

  • Performance Calendar: Most students perform in at least one or both: the Winter Showcase and the Annual June Recital.

  • Travel Expectations:

    • Local (Bay Area): Applies to FDT all showcase and community events.

    • Regional & National (USA): Applies to Elite & FDT groups attending out-of-state competitions or festivals.

Dance Pathways

Please Note:

  • Classes may be adjusted or canceled based on overall studio enrollment and instructor availability.

  • In the event a class is changed or canceled, enrolled students will be offered alternative class options to ensure continuity in their training.

  • All students enrolled in dance classes are automatically included in our Annual Concert and will be charged the Annual Performance Fee unless the office is notified prior to the fee being processed.

  • Please be aware that teaching staff and instructors are subject to change without prior notice.

All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE

Registration Fee:

  • $75 per student

  • $125 per family

 

This fee covers administrative costs, insurance, and may also be used as a "Waiting List Fee."​​​

💃 ADDITIONAL YEARLY FEES FOR ALL DANCE CLASSES

 

🎭 PERFORMANCE FEE:

  • $150 per family

  • Due with October 2025 Tuition

  • Non-refundable

 

All students enrolled in dance classes are automatically opted into our Annual Concert and will be charged the Performance Fee unless our office is notified before the fee is charged.

 

The 2025–2026 Annual Performance Fee covers:

  • All professional pictures of the performance

  • A digital video of the end-of-the-year show (will be made and distributed approximately one month after the concert)

  • Labor and rental costs associated with stage cue programming

  • Stage rental for dress rehearsal

  • Stage rental for the concert performance

  • Stage insurance

 

📣 Please Note:

  • 2–3 weeks prior to the concert, we hold mandatory extra rehearsal hours, which are covered under June tuition.

  • All dance classes after the concert (for the final 2 weeks of June) will be complimentary and are offered only to students participating in the concert, as a thank-you for their dedication and effort.

 

👗 COSTUME FEE:

  • Due January 10, 2026

 

Costume Type Fee Range

New costumes $85 – $120 each

Used costumes $45 – $85 each

Handmade (folk) costumes: $45 usage fee

 

Handmade folk dance costumes are returnable after the performance season.
