Fantasy Dance Studio - Family, Student, and Parent Policy 2020 – 2021
These policies listed are to be followed by every parent and student of Fantasy Dance Studio that wants to participate in any classes within the facilities at Fantasy Dance Studio for the upcoming 2020 - 2021 season. Please note that these policies have been created to ensure the health and safety of the students, families, staff, and teachers at Fantasy Dance Studio.
HEALTH, SAFETY, AND CLEANING
Fantasy Dance Studio is committed to returning to classes in person while maintaining the highest standard for social distancing and cleaning procedures. The following policies will be set for all families and students wanting to participate in classes within the facilities at Fantasy Dance Studio.
CHECK IN PROCEDURE
Only students and staff will be allowed in the studio and the gym at this time.
No visitors, guests, or parents will be allowed in the studio and gym at all.
Detailed bookkeeping and attendance will be kept to ensure who is in the studio and the gym, and at what times they are present with others.
There will be no parking available for parents during this time. Parking will be allowed only for staff. There will be a drop off / pick up route designated for parents.
Parents must sign a Student's Identification Form, print, and place this form before the start of classes on the window of their car. This form will indicate the family arriving so we can prepare the check in procedure.
If a student participates in both gymnastics and dance on the same day, parents will be required to drop off on the side where classes begin and pick up on the side of their last class.
Once a car arrives in the indicated “drop off” zone, students will wait in the car until they are checked in. An FDS staff member will come to the car to begin the check in procedure. Temperatures will be checked (with a contactless thermometer) as well as a verbal questionnaire to check for any symptoms. If any symptoms are observed that align with COVID-19, the student will need to go home immediately.
Recommended Health Screening Questions (Provided by Santa Clara County) that may be asked for each student upon entering the studio and the gym:
Within the last 14 days have you been diagnosed with COVID-19 or had a test confirming you have the virus? Yes – STAY HOME and seek medical care.
Do you live in the same household with, or have you had close contact with, someone who in the past 14 days has been in isolation for COVID-19 or had a test confirming they have the virus? Close contact is less than 6 feet for 15 minutes or more. Yes – STAY HOME and seek medical care and testing.
Have you had any one or more of these symptoms today or within the past 24 hours? Are these symptoms new or not explained by another reason?
Shortness of breath/trouble breathing
Loss of taste or smell
Yes – STAY HOME and seek medical care and testing.
If the student does not have a temperature and is not displaying any symptoms related to COVID-19, while answering no to the above questions, the student will then proceed to the marked line (distanced 6 – 10 feet apart) where they will wait to be transitioned to their class by a staff member.
Once they are transitioned to their class by a staff member, there will be marked areas (at least 6 feet apart) for each student to put their water bottle and dance shoes to change into.
SOCIAL DISTANCING, MASK PROTOCOL, AND COMMUNAL SPACES
Masks will be required when entering, transitioning throughout, during class, and when exiting the studio and gym for all students, staff, and teachers.
Students ages 2 - 5: Face masks are not required (although encouraged) when they are interacting solely with students during class; however, face masks must be worn when transitioning in, out, and throughout the dance studio.
Students ages 6 and older: Masks are required to be worn at all times in the dance studio.
*We know that this will be an adjustment. To help prepare your student for class while wearing a mask, it is highly suggested that students get used to wearing masks while exercising and / or dancing at home before attending in-person classes if possible. It will definitely take some getting used to, so any exposure to wearing a mask while exercising for a longer period of time will help with the transition of wearing masks in class.
If using single-use masks (surgical masks), masks should be disposed of daily. If using reusable or cloth masks, masks should be washed regularly (if possible after every time used). Multiple masks may also be needed throughout the day if a student has multiple classes or will sweat more intensely during class with it. To aid in breathing with a mask on, it is important that the mask fits the student properly.

At this time, there will be no communal and or changing areas open to students. Students must come in their dance attire completely ready for class with their hair ready as well. There will be no place for students to change for class.
There will be a small area designated for students to drop off their shoes and water bottle for class marked to ensure a distance of at least 6 feet apart. These areas will also be sanitized regularly in between classes.
Students must come with a bottle of water to class. There will be no area to refill water bottles or get water in the studio at this time. Water bottles must also have a name or easy identification on them. If any water bottles are left at the end of the day, they will be disposed of as there will no lost and found at this time.
CLEANING AND SANITIZING PROCEDURES
This section does not require any action from the family; however, gives information on some of the precautions that Fantasy Dance Studio will be following to ensure that health and safety of all of our students, families, and staff.
If any props are needed for class (ballet barres / gymnastic equipment), props will be thoroughly sanitized at the end of class before the next class begins by the teacher.
After each class, the teacher of that class will be sanitizing the studio / gym equipment used in that class. This may include but is not limited to: any door handles, light switches, window or door openings, bathrooms, and other equipment.
The teacher will sanitize and / or wipe down the areas where students placed their belongings.
Because of the cleaning procedures that will be implemented, class times will be modified for the time being to ensure that staff have enough time between classes to complete these tasks:
Tiny and Mini classes: Classes will be 45 minutes
Pre-Stars and up Classes: Classes will be 50 minutes
* Please note that this is subject to change based on the current procedures placed during that time as reflected by the County of Santa Clara.
This section lists actions that are highly encouraged for families to sanitize any belongings that may have been inside the studio or gym during their class time upon returning home.
For electronics, such as phones, tablets, or computers
Consider putting a wipeable cover on electronics.
Follow manufacturer’s instruction for cleaning and disinfecting.
If no guidance, use alcohol-based wipes or sprays containing at least 70% alcohol. Dry surface thoroughly.
Laundry: For clothing, re-usable masks, towels, and other items
Launder items according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.
Any other belongings such as water bottles should also be cleaned after each day at the studio if a reusable water bottle is brought.
* If any water bottles are left at the end of the day, they will be disposed of as there will no lost and found at this time.
ENROLLMENT AND PAYMENTS
*** Please be advised that in order to ensure that 6 - 10 feet apart and that the density limitation required by Santa Clara County is maintained, the slots open for in-person classes will be limited and accepted on a first come - first serve enrollment. The remainder of students will still be able to attend the same exact class over Zoom.
If attending in-person classes, students must be able to follow all safety and health procedures put in place for inside dance and gymnastic classes.
Once enrolled in either in-person, hybrid, or online classes, students cannot switch to another format unless directed or approved by the studio. There are some exceptions to this format.
If a student is enrolled in a hybrid class, the student can switch from attending in-person to zoom classes if they are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, test positive to COVID-19, are feeling sick, and / or do not feel comfortable attending classes in person.
While enrollment for in-person classes will be limited to stay in accordance with the density limitation guidelines placed by the County of Santa Clara, if a class has a high demand or wait list for in-person slots, a class may move to a hybrid format to allow for stable groups to switch every 3 weeks. However, this will be determined by Fantasy Dance Studio, the demand for in-person slots, and the guidelines set by the County of Santa Clara at that time.
At any point, an in-person class may switch to an online format if necessary, to ensure the health and safety of all of our students, families, and staff.
In order to ensure that all guidelines are being followed and implemented by the County of Santa Clara, classes may occur either inside or outside of the dance studio and gym. If classes occur inside, all doors and windows will remain open to allow for the most ventilation.
Students will NOT be allowed any make-ups, in any format: in-person, hybrid, and / or online classes, during this time under any circumstances; whether it be requested online or in-person. For example, a student cannot miss an in-person class and request to attend another class offered at a different time, in any format. A student also cannot miss an online class and request to attend another class offered at a different time.
All payments made to Fantasy Dance Studio must be completed online through The Studio Director.
All communication with staff will be conducted either via email or over the phone if there are any questions or concerns regarding anything with Fantasy Dance Studio. There will be no opportunities to speak with any staff within the dance studio or the gym.
COVID-19 SYMPTOMS AND TESTING
If a student or anyone in the student’s household is experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19, that student and anyone in that household must stay home and notify the office as soon as possible.
In order to return, a doctor’s clearance or negative COVID-19 test must be provided before returning to the studio.
If a student comes into work and any symptoms related to COVID-19 are observed during the symptom check or throughout their class, the student will immediately be removed from the class and will need to be picked up.

If a student, student’s family member, or anyone in their household tests positive for COVID-19, the family must notify the office as soon as possible and cannot come into the studio or gym.
If the student tests positive, the student must quarantine for at least 14 days. After the 14 days, the student must bring either a doctor’s clearance or a negative COVID-19 test in order to return.
If it is a family member or household member that tests positive, the student must quarantine until the isolation period ends for the household member who tested positive.
If a student, student’s family member, or anyone in their household has traveled outside of the country, the student must quarantine for at least 14 days before coming into the studio or gym.
If a student or a member of a student’s household come into close contact with an individual who learns that they have tested positive for COVID-19, the student may not come into the studio or gym.
Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet from the individual who tested positive for at least 15 minutes.
The student must quarantine for at least 14 days. After the 14 days, the student must bring either a doctor’s clearance or a negative COVID-19 test in order to return.
If the student, anyone in the student’s family or household, or anyone the student has been in contact with recently is experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19, it is kindly asked that the student stays home for at least 14 days, a clearance note from a doctor, or a negative COVID-19 test to decrease the possibility of risk of transmission. It is important to note that even if a student isn’t experiencing any symptoms, they may be an asymptotic carrier if they have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed or exposed to COVID-19. Please note that for the same reasons, a substitute teacher or a teacher may be replaced for classes for some time without warning if needed. Teachers may also have to teach via Zoom from their homes with the students in the studio if needed as well.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF THE HOME
In accordance with Santa Clara County’s ordinance, students enrolled for in-person classes can only attend one additional before- or after-school program or activity within the same three-week period.

Please note the following guidelines regarding all classes:
Dance class is education and fun; however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at Fantasy Dance Studio will be a pleasure for all concerned.
We request that students carefully observe our dress code outlined.
Any student arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to class. For your safety and to receive full benefit from your class, please arrange for a make-up class if you expect to be very late.
All students are encouraged not to leave the room once the class has begun. Please allow for appropriate restroom use before class. Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. Preschool children may need a parent’s attention from time to time for various reasons, including bathroom or behavior issues. Please do not leave the waiting room when very young children are in class without informing the office or having another parent responsible during your absence.
The average class size (6 years old and up) has 10-16 students, and (3-5 years old) has 8-12 students. We must have a minimum of 8 registered students in order to hold a class!
Class Levels: If your student has dance experience, but you are unsure of his/her level, please give us a call to schedule a tryout class. If a teacher determines that a student is at an incorrect level at the start of the session, the dancer may be transferred to the appropriate class at that time. No transfers will take place three months before the performance.
We request that you arrive at the studio with adequate time to prepare for class, parking, changing, restroom, etc. Parents please notify the office if you are going to be late for class or picking up your student.
Our 2020-2021 program, classes run from September-December for the Fall session and January-June for the Spring session. To best support your child's training, CONSISTENT ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED.
If your child has a planned absence, written documentation must be emailed to prior to the event.
For their safety, your child will not be able to participate in class if they arrive more than 15 minutes late. They must observe the class and take notes. This will be strictly enforced.
No refunds will be issued for missed classes for any reason. There are NO MAKE-UP classes for missed classes. It is imperative to your child’s success that this program is viewed as a serious commitment.

We are genuinely delighted to receive your feedback and will take the time to answer your personal questions. YOU are the reason that we are here!
It is your responsibility to be aware of all rehearsals your dancer needs to be. The studio sends out multiple emails regarding scheduling for rehearsals. Your student will be expected to be present at all rehearsals their classes are called for. If you miss 2 or more rehearsals, you risk being taken out of the performance. This decision will be according to Artistic Director/ Teacher discretion. If you know you will be absent for one or more rehearsals, please coordinate with the office as soon as possible.
All students are subject to be photographed or videoed for studio purposes only. No photographs or videos will ever be used or sold for any other purpose other than studio use or marketing tools. Photos may also appear on the website if approved by the studio owner.
