From France to the Bay and Beyond: Inspiring Connection Through Dance

Ms. Clara Michaud is a French and Swedish dancer and choreographer who trains bicoastally in California and Massachusetts. Born in France and raised in the Bay Area from the age of five, Ms. Clara has always embraced the richness of diverse cultures. This multicultural background has deeply influenced her creative expression and shaped the unique perspective she brings to her choreography and teaching.

Ms Clara graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2025 with a dual degree in Dance and Environmental Science. During her academic journey, she studied under esteemed faculty including Tom Vacanti, Ann Biddle, Jenna Riegel, Ramon Baynes, Angelica Monteiro, Lauren Cox, and Aston McCullough.

Ms. Clara was actively involved in numerous faculty and student works throughout her time at UMass, gaining extensive performance experience and refining her choreographic voice.

Her dance foundation was laid in the Bay Area, where she trained and competed for over a decade. At Studio 10 Dance, she received rigorous training in jazz, contemporary, ballet, and lyrical styles. Ms. Clara also worked closely for several years with Joce Satterberg, performing as a company member with Flight Dance Collective, a professional ensemble known for its expressive and athletic repertoire.

Ms. Clara’s passion for choreography has been a defining element of her artistic career. She has created original works for the UMass Dance Department, Alive With Dance, and MVHS Dance Spectrum, consistently blending storytelling, technical precision, and emotional depth. Her choreographic style is both grounded in technical clarity and enriched by her cultural fluency and academic background.

As she continues to evolve as an artist and educator, Ms. Clara hopes to share her love of dance with others and inspire her students to discover and cultivate their own connection to movement and self-expression.
