FDS is excited to announce that we are finally able to present Thumbelina - our annual themed concert which will take place on June 12th, 2022.

After this originally scheduled concert was set to occur in 2020, due to theater closures and the pandemic, we are thrilled to finally bring this idea and theater performance to life!

Specific students were chosen to play these characters in 2020, and we are even more excited to see how these students have grown to fulfill their roles with their magic, light, and talent brought to life on a full production stage with everyone in attendance.

At Fantasy Dance School, we love to perform!

We feel that performing is such an excellent way for self-confidence and self-esteem to grow!

The students learn the joy of working hard and then receive a natural and fulfilling reward for their efforts and hard work. There is a beautiful joy, and the natural high that is felt when performing teaches students appropriate and healthy ways to find joy in life!

We seek out many Community performance opportunities such as festivals, parades, community events, the Festival of Trees, etc.

We also hold our Winter Show in December and Annual Concert in June.

  • All students in performing classes are encouraged and expected to participate in the Annual Concert. The students work hard all year long and the Annual Concert is the pinnacle point of the season.  The classes learn to work together and rely on each other.

  • Any student who wishes not to be included in the Annual Concert must inform the office by January 10th in written format before they begin to learn the dances that will be performed.

  • All performance fees, costume fees, and tuition must be paid in order to perform.

  • Tuition needs to be current, up through the date of the performance to participate.

Commitment

The Annual Concert is a commitment. This includes a commitment to be in classes weekly to learn, clean, and practice dances with their classmates and at ALL scheduled performances/rehearsals, including non-dress rehearsals occurring throughout the two weeks before the concert.

Rehearsal Schedules

There are MANDATORY rehearsals that students are required to attend. This includes:

  • In-studio Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, June 4th, 2022,

  • Stage Rehearsal on Thursday, June 9th, 2022, and

  • non-dress rehearsals occur throughout the two weeks before the concert.

While specific rehearsals times will be released closer to the concert, we ask families to block off the two weeks before as rehearsals days and times may differ from what your original class time looks like.

Classes may be called at different days or times dependent on the number of dances, solos, and where they fall in the various scenes.

Please keep in mind that if you participated in our previous year's outdoor concerts, rehearsals will be very different in length and times as we are preparing our indoor performance which will include more dances, sets, and an unforgettable story come to life.

Rehearsals will occur daily after school and may differ from your usual class times.

Absences

Any class or rehearsal absences during May and June may result in your student not performing in the show. Please be mindful when planning vacations at this time. Take this into consideration before committing to the annual show.

Concert Ticket Distribution

Each family can purchase tickets to the show. Tickets will be available for purchase and reservation beginning on May 16th.

As a reminder, seats are arranged based on coming to the office and picking off the seating chart on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis (whether you are purchasing tickets or reserving your 2 tickets included in your performance fee).

If you wish to purchase more tickets alongside the 2 tickets included in the performance fee, please make sure you are telling us the total needed when coming to the office. For example, you would like 4 seats (2 tickets included in your performance fee and buying 2 extra tickets).

*For 2 tickets included in the performance fee, you still must come to the office to reserve your seats on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. If you do not reserve your 2 tickets included in the performance fee to our office, we will assume you do not wish to use these tickets.

Costume Distribution

Purchasing a costume indicates you are planning to participate in the annual show.

Costumes will first be tried on during your student's classes to see if adjustments or alterations will be needed. Once all alterations are completed on our end, costumes will be distributed to families.

The Costume distribution week is Monday, May 2nd through Saturday, May 7th, 2022.

All families will be receiving an email about what day and time slot is designated for them to pick up their student's costumes (most likely the day of their class). Please be sure to come to your designated day and time with a labeled garment bag to pick up your costumes.

Garment bags are available for purchase through our FDStore if needed.

*Once costumes are given to the families, please DO NOT wash costumes before the concert. Steaming of costumes is all that is allowed before the concert.
